  • I have an existing medical condition; can I still have a treatment?

Please do not let this put you off if you are worried please contact us before so we can advise you correctly.

  • Can I bring my child to my appointment?

The Parlour is a child-free salon and we do not allow anyone under the age of 10 in the salon. Anyone between the ages of 10-16 must be accompanied by an adult. We have taken much time to consider implementing this policy in order to enhance our overall customer experience for anyone and everyone visiting the salon. We have a few reasons for putting this policy in place but the main reason, and certainly the most important for having a strict child-free policy, is due to the issue of Health and Safety. We realise this policy will not suit everyone, however; we do hope you can understand our reasoning and please do give us a call to discuss any issues with future appointments.

  • I’m pregnant, can I still have treatment?

Absolutely! We have a wide range of treatments suitable throughout pregnancy, we would advise to wait until your second trimester before having our pregnancy massage. Do feel free to contact us for more information and how we adapt our treatments to make them pregnancy safe.

  • What products do you stock to buy?

We stock a selection of the Neal’s Yard Remedies range, including skincare, body care and well-being products. We also have our own Neal’s Yard Remedies online shop, so you can get your products delivered directly to your home after your treatment.

  • What is the difference between hot wax and warm wax?

Strip wax is used for larger areas like legs and arms and is a warm wax applied to the skin and removed quickly with a wax strip. Hot Wax is better for smaller, more sensitive areas and is applied to the skin and removed quickly without any wax strips. Hot Wax is usually better for more intimate areas e.g bikini area due to their sensitivity. Hot wax can pick up hair as small as 1mm, and we also use an oil first to create a barrier and to protect, so the only thing we remove is your hair and not your skin! Our therapists will always advise you on what method is best for you prior to doing the treatment. Please note, for intimate areas we will only use hot wax.

  • What is the difference between a bikini line, Brazilian and Hollywood?

A bikini wax is the hair removed outside your knicker line, a Brazilian is a strip left down the centre of the pubic area and all other hair removed, and a Hollywood wax is all hair removed from top, sides and underneath.

  • How long does my hair need to be for waxing?

We would recommend leaving it at least 10-14 days after the last time you shaved, and between 4-6 weeks after your last wax. Ideally the hair needs to be around 1cm in length for best results.

  • Will gel nails ruin my nails?

Gel polish will not ruin your nails if you follow correct aftercare advice given to you by your therapist, and if the gel polish is removed correctly. To avoid dehydration after a removal we recommend using a cuticle oil or the Neal’s Yards Rose Beauty Balm to nourish and hydrate the nails, which is also great to use while your gel nails are done to prolong and keep the nails healthy.
